FPInnovations collaborated with BC Timber Sales and Hummingbird Drones, a company with expertise in wildfire hotspot detection, to explore the use of a DJI Inspire 1 Pro remotely piloted aircraft system equipped with a thermal sensor as a hotspot detection tool.

Abstract
The production of conifer seedlings for reforestation uses genetic improvement techniques that have been in place for several decades. They have allowed to considerably improve the vigor and the growth of the reproduced species. To these techniques have been added genomic selection and somatic embryogenesis, two techniques made possible by scientific advances in genetics, computer science and cell culture.
Abstract
La production de plants de conifères pour le reboisement fait appel à des techniques d’amélioration génétique mises en place depuis quelques décennies. Elles ont permis d’améliorer considérablement la vigueur et la croissance des espèces reproduites. À ces techniques viennent de s’ajouter la sélection génomique et l’embryogenèse somatique, deux techniques rendues possibles grâce aux avancées scientifiques en génétique, en informatique et en culture cellulaire.
