FERIC has studied the use of GPS systems in forestry for several years and has gained a good understanding of the requirements for using GPS successfully in forestry applications. This report describes the main information that users should know before using GPS receivers and provides recommendations on the settings for various operational parameters and guidance on the levels of accuracy that can be attained with various types of receivers.

Abstract
As forest-origin biomass use has increased, logistics of supply and storage become more complex and innovative solutions are required to improve feedstock quality for the growing bioenergy industry. The variety of feedstocks available is quite complex, with multiple feedstocks coming from different streams (at-the-stump, roadside, transfer yard, mill) and accessible under different formats (wood chips, bark, fines, tops, and branches or low grade logs). The quality of biomass is critical for many bioenergy processes and best management practices (BMPs) are required to guarantee access to quality feedstocks at any given time

Avec l'augmentation de l'utilisation de la biomasse d'origine forestière, la logistique de l'approvisionnement et du stockage devient plus complexe et des solutions innovantes sont nécessaires pour améliorer la qualité des matières premières pour l'industrie croissante de la bioénergie. La variété des matières premières disponibles est assez complexe, avec de multiples matières premières provenant de différents flux (à la souche, au bord de la route, au chantier de transfert, à l'usine) et accessibles sous différents formats (copeaux de bois, écorce, fines, cimes et branches ou billes de qualité inférieure). La qualité de la biomasse est essentielle pour de nombreux processus bioénergétiques et les meilleures pratiques de gestion (MPG) sont nécessaires pour garantir l'accès à des matières premières de qualité à tout moment.

Abstract
The production of conifer seedlings for reforestation uses genetic improvement techniques that have been in place for several decades. They have allowed to considerably improve the vigor and the growth of the reproduced species. To these techniques have been added genomic selection and somatic embryogenesis, two techniques made possible by scientific advances in genetics, computer science and cell culture.
Abstract
La production de plants de conifères pour le reboisement fait appel à des techniques d’amélioration génétique mises en place depuis quelques décennies. Elles ont permis d’améliorer considérablement la vigueur et la croissance des espèces reproduites. À ces techniques viennent de s’ajouter la sélection génomique et l’embryogenèse somatique, deux techniques rendues possibles grâce aux avancées scientifiques en génétique, en informatique et en culture cellulaire.
