Abstract
Continuous pressing is an emerging technology which is increasingly used by the composite board industry. While the industry is relatively familiar with the traditional hot platen presses, the operation of continuous presses is new and yet to be fully understood. The long term goals of this project are to minimize the manufacturing costs and optimize product performance for wood strand composites. This year a 3D hot pressing model has been developed. The algorithm of OSB hot-pressing simulation has been upgraded and significant work has been done in upgrading the program interfaces and presenting the real-time graphical simulation of the 3D model. The 3D model is more accurate, while the 2D model is faster. Users have the option to use the 2D or the 3D model.
