Abstract
Currently there is not a complete scientific understanding of the reasons for many bandsaw roll-tensioning practices. For the last three years Forintek Canada Corp., in conjunction with the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia, have been involved in a joint research project to investigate the effect of roll-tensioning on bandsaw performance. The objective of this article is to present some of the key findings from the research.

Abstract
Ce rapport presente les bases de developpement d'un nouveau modele de simulation du debitage. Un portrait des modeles existants est presente dans le deuxieme chapitre. Ce portrait permet d'identifier les lacunes majeures de ces modeles et des objectifs de developpement qui vise a corriger ces lacunes sont proposes. Le troisieme chapitre presente une revue exhaustive de la litterature scientifique traitant de la simulation du debitage. Le cinquieme chapitre fait une description des principales composantes d'un prototype du modele presentement en developpement au Groupe Forintek-Laval.
