Results for the extensive tree to lumber conversion study indicate that very small diameter tree-lengths yield low lumber volume and value recovery. At best, conversion efficiency reaches 200bf/m3 of tree-lengths (12 cm-trees) but only as a result of major efforts to salvage 4-foot and 2x2-inch lumber. Furthermore, the low lumber volume recovery results in the production of very large volumes of pulp chips.
