FERIC has been involved in the development of mobile rock crusher technology for the past six years. In November 1993, FERIC formed an advisory committee comprising contractors, forest companies, manufacturers, and funding agencies to establish the basic criteria for an "ideal" mobile crusher. The committee concluded that the crusher must be easy to transport, economical and adaptable to a machine that is common on forest operations. In cooperation with FERIC, FAHR Industries built the Forester C2000 based on the committee's recommendations. This small rock crusher, which mounts quickly on a front-end loader with a 3-m3 capacity, was then evaluated by FERIC. The Forester C2000 proved to be reliable and effective, with a travel speed of 300 m/h and production of up to 40m3 of crushed material per kilometer of windrow.
