In the fall of 2005, researchers were asked to accompany representatives from British Columbia Ministry of Forests and Range and Selkirk Systems Inc. to Sacramento, California. The team met with personnel at the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to discuss the use and effectiveness of gels in their aerial firefighting operations.
