FERIC's study consisted of a two-part comparison of four GPS systems under forestry conditions. The first part addressed the ergonomics and reliability of the physical components of the systems, as well as the software provided. The second part evaluated the positioning quality, with the goal of observing the relative performance of the GPS receivers under typical conditions and usage modes for forestry operations.
