Since 1977, the Forest Engineering Research Institute of Canada (FERIC) has published 43 research papers on the recovery, utilization, and disposal of low-grade wood and wood waste. Current restrictions on uncontrolled open burning and landfilling, increased utilization lev- els, and reduced allowable annual cuts are forcing the forest industry to seek solutions to these problems. The following bibliography will inform FERIC members of the research which has been done and provide the back- ground for suggestions of new FERIC research in debris utilization technology. The material is broken into three categories: sortyard debris, low-value stands, and log- ging residue.
