This report is intended to stimulate creativity and encourage a more open dialogue between machine user-owners and manufacturers to develop improved wood harvesting systems. It identifies the current logging system trends, formulates the prerequisites for each operation, identifies the intrinsic problems of present-day machine designs and, finally, presents machine concepts as improved alternatives for wood harvesting systems for central and eastern Canada.
